As you may have read in last week’s newsletter, I am beginning a series on navigating layoffs, and unpacking the many layers that are affected by such a traumatic event. 

In this week’s The Spiritual 9-5 Podcast episode, we start with what it means to regulate your nervous system. 

Most of us, rather than learning to regulate, have learned a number of ways to cope, to distract, to numb, or to take less-than-intentional action. We've reverted to perfectionism, or we’ve learned to explain, to shut down, to focus on things beyond our control, or even to be toxically positive. 

A lot of us do these things and more instead of regulating our bodies and regulating ourselves.
