What’s missing at work?
Hi friend,
Something I experienced recently – that sort of threw me – was a strong defiance to the belief that leadership starts with the individual.
I was explaining that, essentially, a good leader is someone who continues to do the inner work, prioritizes self reflection and personal growth, and finds ways to thrive in their (personal and professional) environment. And because of this, they are better leaders.
However, I was quite surprised when I was met with disagreement. Defensiveness, in fact. Which is fine. We are all allowed our own opinions and beliefs.
But it made me think about how that particular belief – the one where a leader doesn’t consider how their own behaviors, expectations, and boundaries (or lack thereof) permeate the work culture and affect how they lead their team – can be quite limiting. And how this behavior/belief system could (and does) make it really difficult and uncomfortable for those they are supposed to be leading.
So…
Since we can’t control anyone else, this week’s podcast, while not necessarily about leadership, is about seven perspective shifts or mindset shifts that’ll make your job feel easier. To make you feel more effective at work and in your personal life.
And to remind you of what really matters. Which sometimes is your job, but sometimes isn't.
This episode is about taking back the power that you have when it comes to your work, even (or maybe especially) if you’re having trouble reconciling the conflicting thoughts and feelings you have about your day job and/or the leadership you’re expected to follow.
