the call: meditations on feeling the pull of forest (the invitation)
🌲
you are standing in a meadow at the edge of a tall, dense forest. something inside compels you to walk in.
you can feel the trees calling.
you’ve felt this before.
you may not know exactly what it is, or why.
you only know with certainty that you must answer.
the forest is dark. all of your senses come alive at the thought of wandering (and wondering) within.
The Unknown.
this is a place you must enter alone, without anyone you’ve ever known.
for they have never walked this forest.
and they have never been where you are being called to go.
I am the guide that takes you in, for this forest is the place that I call home.
a poem by mg, TCP’s founder
We’ve all experienced being on the precipice — feeling some sort of call, sensing some sort of change, knowing that we cannot stay precisely where we are for too much longer.
Sometimes we know exactly what it is, what it means, and where we are going.
But sometimes, we only know that we can’t ignore the pull and the call, felt from deep within.
It’s not always a literal forest that compels us. The call exists and meets us wherever we are.
Metaphorically, it could be the ocean depths that pull us, bleak cliffs that entice us, a unexpected glimpse of our own reflection, a neon sign, a door with no sign at all, a loose ceiling tile begging for us to peer behind, or a particularly cozy bookshelf.
It’s the subtle impulse to look
to open
to go
to investigate
to find out
to explore
to listen
and ultimately to meet ourselves and see ourselves within.
To know again that we are the one.
The call urges us to embrace the deeper parts within — to explore our crafts, to share our art, to write our book, to sell our pottery, to learn to tattoo, to reconnect with our intuition, to know our gifts & take them seriously.
Often, it is to reclaim ourselves and our work as sacred.
Calling us to examine our way of being, doing, working, relating, living. Offering to us a new way — an aligned way.
That way drives us to leave the spaces that no longer contain us, relationships that no longer serve us, and jobs that inhibit us.
The call gets louder & louder until we listen.
And it’s not about the leaving. It’s about where we are going. It’s about who we came here to be and what we came here to do.
this call is the soul speaking to us
& we must listen.
The thing about the soul is that it’s not a place that we can visit with our parents or with our partners. It requires from us a deeper level of commitment — the kind of commitment we can only make to ourselves.
Often, the soul initiates us into a self-journey. Delivering to us, a vision and offering to us, a leap.
This is a leap that we must take almost entirely alone — for we are the only ones who can fulfill our unique mission.
You are the only one who can bring to the world the work that you are meant to, in the way that you meant to do it.
And so we seek those who have leaped before. The ones who have journeyed to the depths of their own inner worlds and beings. The ones who have come back alive and vibrant. The ones who cannot give us The Path, but that can teach us how they walked their own.
& whether the path is business, art, life, love or creation,
TCP is the guide that takes you in, for this forest is the place that we call home.
