on loving our shadows
Sweet human,
I used a meditation app this morning & during my meditation, I heard this:
you only have one life. don't waste it being someone you don't want to be.
&& it reminded me of ALL THE BEINGS that I don't want to be, but that I embody at various times, on a regular basis.
I decided to write a letter to the person that I am not, which then turned into a series of poems, to the parts of myself that I am not.
There are so many parts of me that I lean on in times of uncertainty, or big feelings, or fear, or even inspiration.
These are parts that many coaches would work to push us out of, but that upon further examination, serve us deeply.
The key is not to abandon the parts that aren't serving us, but to understand those parts and how they actually are serving us.
This doesn't mean to give in to them. But rather, to see them for what they are – to love them for what they give. And to love ourselves for occasionally imbibing.
🔑 The key to growth and expansion is to meet all parts of ourselves in love, knowing that there is no part of us that can fully contain the bigness of who or what we really are.
If this resonates, I invite you to write a letter or a series of poems to the person and the parts that you are not.
Free free to peep one of mine, for inspo.
Hit reply & let me know how it goes.
BIG LOVE,
