The truth about corporate dysregulation
Are you dysregulated?
There are a lot of ways we might experience dysregulation, and it could include any or a combination of the following (or something else entirely):
Scrambling
Over-stressed
Feeling frantic
Overcompensating
Feeling burnt out
Feeling uncertain or stuck
Not taking breaks / hyper-focused
There are a lot of ways that dysregulation can materialize, honestly. And it likely won’t look the same for everyone.
But what’s tricky about dysregulation is that we've learned to live in this state for a really, really long time, and we may not always sense when we’re experiencing it.
Because we've just learned to handle a low level of stress or anxiety. Or to continue moving forward even though we’re experiencing a low level of discomfort. And we almost see this existence as our “normal” because we’ve learned to accommodate it. To make it work.
And in the workspace, maybe even especially in the corporate setting, what makes this really challenging is that everything remains so fast paced:
🔥 We’re running from meeting to meeting.
🔥 We’re constantly replying to texts and emails.
🔥 We're communicating or thinking about communicating with coworkers/clients.
🔥 We're constantly having to react instead of getting to be proactive about things.
🔥 We barely have time to go on a bathroom break, or are eating lunch at our desks.
And we just keep doing it this way.
Because is there another way when you’re trying to keep up?
We're expected to be these master multitaskers and to be present in 15 different arenas at a time. And this doesn’t even include the expectations that befall us when we get home.
So what’s happening?
All of this is creating massive dysregulation, and we may not realize it’s happening or what to do about it.
In this episode, we talk about how to check in with our bodies, listen to our senses and tune in, and how to regulate yourself when you’re in a dysregulated state.
